Google expands Demand Gen video tools as creative becomes more adaptable across screens

New Demand Gen capabilities include broader video resizing, Gemini-powered creative recommendations and expanded measurement.

Google's June Demand Gen update puts more emphasis on adapting video creative for different screens and understanding what those videos contribute to acquisition.

Broader aspect-ratio transformations are designed to make existing video assets work across more placements, while Gemini-powered recommendations are intended to help advertisers improve assets for YouTube.

For motorcycle brands this supports a practical approach we already favour: start with the strongest review, model, riding or campaign footage, then build channel-specific creative around the way people actually consume it. The audience plan can sit alongside that creative, relevant channels, relevant review videos, model interests and later retargeting of engaged users.

“Automation can choose the placement, but it still needs good ingredients. Strong product data, useful creative and clear commercial messages are what give automated campaigns something worthwhile to work with.”

Demand Gen is increasingly designed to work across visually led Google surfaces, which makes creative breadth important. Advertisers need assets that can adapt across placements rather than relying on one master advert to perform everywhere.

For motorcycle brands this creates a practical production challenge: model imagery, riding footage, dealer offers and finance messages need to work across multiple ratios and stages of the customer journey. Product feeds and audience signals can then determine which combination is most relevant.

Digitally Charged treats these changes as part of a broader shift towards systems that assemble campaigns dynamically. The quality of the source creative and product data therefore becomes more important, not less.
