Surface Works becomes Digitally Charged's second live environment for testing new data and content ideas

The premium PPF and ceramic-coating business gives the agency a live automotive test environment alongside its long-standing motorcycle specialism.

Digitally Charged is using Surface Works, a founder-owned premium vehicle protection business with two UK outlets, as a second live environment for testing new data, SEO, content and advertising approaches.

Surface Works specialises in premium PPF and ceramic coatings, including work around high-value and supercar customers. That creates a very different customer journey from motorcycles while still sitting inside a specialist automotive category.

The purpose is simple: new data should be tested before it is sold. Surface Works allows Digitally Charged to compare what search and conversational signals suggest with what happens on a real website, in real campaigns and through real enquiries.

“We would rather test a new advertising product with our own money and our own business first. It gives us a much clearer view of what actually works before we recommend it to a client.”

Using a live operating business as a test environment makes it possible to evaluate new advertising and data products against real enquiries, website behaviour and commercial outcomes rather than presentation metrics alone.

Surface Works gives Digitally Charged a controlled environment for testing search, Meta, retargeting, location data, creative, SEO and emerging AI advertising approaches. Learnings can then be assessed before similar techniques are recommended to larger clients.

The important distinction is that tests are measured against practical outcomes such as relevant traffic, qualified enquiries and customer behaviour. That helps separate genuinely useful technology from products that look impressive in a platform demonstration but add little commercial value.
